How To Use These Hints
Every hint above is folded shut. Open the first one, go back to your board, and only come back for the next if you are still stuck. Most people need one or two. The first two hints change how you guess without telling you a single letter, which is the kind of help that still lets you call the win your own.
Hint 1 is the one worth opening early. Repeated letters are the most common reason a Wordle runs to five or six guesses, because a good player stops testing a letter once it turns green or yellow. If today's word uses a letter twice, knowing that saves a guess on its own.
Wordle In One Minute
You get six guesses at a five letter word. After each guess every tile turns green (right letter, right place), yellow (in the word, wrong place) or grey (not in the word at all). There is one puzzle a day, the same for everyone, and it changes at midnight in your own time zone. The hints on this page follow the Eastern time puzzle.
Hard mode adds one rule: any letter you have revealed must be used in every later guess. It sounds like a small change and it is not. It stops you from playing a throwaway word to test five new letters, which is the main tool good players use to escape a trap.
Getting Better At It
Pick one strong opening word and keep it. Our ranked list of 360 openers shows why words built from S, E, A, R, O, I, L, T and N do best, and our Wordle strategy guide covers the second guess, the endings that trap people (_IGHT, _OUND, _ATCH) and when to spend a guess on letters you know are wrong.
If you already have some letters placed, the Wordle Solver lists every word that still fits your greens, yellows and greys, so you can see how many candidates are left before you commit.
