How The Hints Work

Every page follows the same rule: the smallest useful nudge first, the answer last, and nothing shown until you open it. For Wordle that means repeated letters and vowels before any letter is given away. For Connections it means one word from each group before the group names. For Spelling Bee it means the totals and the hints grid, so you can see where your missing words are without being told what they are.

The pages refresh at midnight Eastern time, when the New York Times publishes the next day's puzzles. The Mini arrives a little earlier, the evening before.
