Wordscapes gives you a fixed set of letters arranged in a circle and asks you to find every word that fits the crossword-style grid. The underlying mechanic is identical to unscrambling: find every valid word using some or all of a fixed set of letters.

3. Cross-reference against the blank tiles shown in the grid to figure out which word fits which slot.

A note on dictionaries

Wordscapes uses its own internal word list, which is broader in some places and narrower in others than standard Scrabble dictionaries. If a word doesn't fit, try a close variant — plurals, past tense, or a synonym often will.
